Sports Betting: Everything You Need to Know to Get Started
If you're new to Sports Betting, the range of options can feel a bit overwhelming at first. But the concept is simple: you analyze a sporting event, pick an outcome you think is likely, and place a wager. If you're right, you win an amount proportional to the odds of the market you chose.
At 88casino, each sport has its own markets and odds. Football, for example, offers everything from the classic full-time result (1X2) to highly specific markets like "Flamengo scores in both halves" or "Santos receives a red card in the first half". The variety is huge, opening up possibilities for bettors of every profile — from casual fans to seasoned punters.
For UFC, the markets go well beyond picking a winner. You can bet on the exact round the fight ends, the method of victory (knockout, submission, or decision), and whether the fight goes to the judges' scorecards. For Brazilian fighters like Alexandre Pantoja, Alex Poatan, and other Brazilian representatives in the octagon, the 88casino often releases special odds and themed promotions for the biggest cards.
In volleyball and basketball, handicap and over/under markets take center stage. Instead of just picking a winner, you can bet that a team wins by at least two sets, or that the total points in a basketball game will exceed a certain number. These markets reward deeper analysis and often present strong value opportunities.
How Odds Work at 88casino
The odds at 88casino are displayed in decimal format, the most common in Brazil. Odds of 2.00 mean that for every R$ 1.00 wagered, you get R$ 2.00 back if you win — a profit of R$ 1.00. Odds of 1.50 represent a smaller return (R$ 0.50 profit per real staked), while odds of 5.00 represent a higher return and therefore a less likely outcome according to the platform's calculations.
Higher odds mean the outcome is considered less likely — but that also means a bigger return if you get it right. A R$ 50.00 bet at odds of 8.00 pays out R$ 400.00 if it comes in. That's exactly why many bettors combine lower and higher odds in accumulators, multiplying their potential return.
Cashout: Get Out at the Right Time
One of the most popular features among bettors at 88casino is cashout. Say you bet R$ 100.00 on Flamengo to win. It's 2–0 in the second half, but the opponent starts pressing. With cashout, you can settle your bet before the final whistle and lock in, for example, R$ 170.00 — instead of risking it all in the closing minutes. The call is always yours, and cashout is available on both pre-game and live bets.
